Triage Emergency Care - Intensive
The CRANAplus Triage Emergency Care course is based on the Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK) with a focus on application for rural, remote and isolated settings. Designed for nurses (including practice nurses) and GPs but open to a variety of health care professionals, the course upskills the rural triage practitioner to confidently assess patients and apply the Australasian Triage Scale to allocate an appropriate triage category.

TEC Intensive delivers the same content from our traditional face-to-face course but allows you to engage from the comfort of home or work, immerse yourself in the content, and engage with other practitioners via our online discussion boards.

The course is designed to meet the learning needs of the remote and rural health workforce, especially nurses and rural general practitioners who may be required to perform triage.

- Course delivery

The Zoom workshop for the Triage Emergency Care Intensive online course is designed to be completed in one day. The course delivers the same content as our traditional courses using a combination of:
- Five self-directed online learning modules including case scenarios, quizzes and activities
- Online discussion boards
- 1 full-day online Zoom intensive workshop
Please note that the above components of the course must be completed to receive the TEC certificate, including 100% attendance at the one-day live online Zoom workshop. Workshop times are shown in Australian Eastern Standard Time and will need to be converted to local time by interstate attendees.
- On successful completion of this course, clinicians will be able to:

- Demonstrate an understanding of the Australasian Triage Scale and its implementation in the workplace.
- Demonstrate the principles of triage assessment techniques using a primary survey approach.
- Give consideration to safety, communication and bias when undertaking triage.
- Develop an understanding of the medico-legal aspects of triage.
- Develop an understanding of the unique differences between urban and rural triage practices.
Please note: this course does not assess for triage competency. Competency assessment is determined by your individual workplace/organisational requirements.
